What’s New Around Here
brand new DIGITAL MAP
We’re leaning into sharing the great walkability our downtown has. The past map, while beloved, is now digital! This new format will allow us to organize, update and keep things fresh for our community. It’s a very user-friendly experience, too!
Due to its digital nature, our marketing will encourage the community to the website. We’ll still be sharing special parts of the map on Instagram, but the main call to action will be to visit the map on our website.
Monthly Themes
To keep things fresh and interesting, we will set monthly themes that will drive our marketing. Much like our monthly color themes are tied to the season or holiday, so will the themes.
Not only does this create a variety for the community to experience, it also gives you as a business a clear line of sight into months that’d be perfect for you to upgrade + sponsor for more exposure and creativity.
More Participation
While we loved bringing Second Saturday to businesses free of charge during the pandemic, it’s time to bring back a pay-to-participate model. The fee will allow Second Saturday to continue offering this to the community and innovating while we do it. There are tiers of participation, including a nominal amount option so everyone can be included.
More community involvement
Moving into this new phase, our focus will be on how our beloved community experiences Downtown Bakersfield + the wonderful local businesses that make Second Saturday the best day of the month. We’ll be involving community members of all kinds to have them bring us along for their ideal Second Saturday experience. We believe this move will showcase the amazing businesses, experiences, and walkability our downtown has to offer in a new way each month.
